Objective

Two teams compete to identify their words on the board first. Each team has a Cryptographer who gives clues and Code Crackers who guess.

🔐 Cryptographer (Clue Giver)

• See which words belong to your team
• Give one-word clues with a number
• Example: "SPACE 2" connects ROCKET and MOON
• Cannot use words already on the board

🔍 Code Cracker (Guesser)

• Tap words you think match the clue
• You get one extra guess beyond the number given
• Example: If clue is "FRUIT 2", you can guess up to 3 words
• Correct guess = continue guessing
• Wrong guess = turn ends

🎨 Word Colors

• 🟥 Red Team words (8)
• 🟦 Blue Team words (8)
• 🟨 Neutral words (7)
• ⬛ Danger word (1) - instant loss if selected!

ℹ️ The team that goes first gets 9 words.

🏆 Winning

First team to identify all their words wins! But be careful - selecting the danger word means instant defeat.

How do I start a multiplayer game?

Tap "Create Game" on the home screen, choose your game settings, and share the 4-letter room code with your friends. They can join by tapping "Join Game" and entering the code.

Can I play alone?

Yes! Choose "Single Player" mode to play against AI opponents. You can be the Cryptographer (giving clues to an AI guesser) or the Code Cracker (guessing based on AI clues).

What is Pass & Play mode?

Pass & Play lets you play on a single device with friends. Players take turns passing the phone between the Cryptographer and Code Crackers. Perfect for parties!

What if the app crashes or freezes?

Try closing the app completely and reopening it. If you were in a multiplayer game, you can rejoin using the same room code. If the issue persists, please report it to us (see below).

Why does the AI take a long time to give a clue?

The AI analyzes all the words on the board to find clever connections. This usually takes a few seconds. If it takes more than 10 seconds, check your internet connection.

Do I need an account to play?

No! Code Quest doesn't require any account or login. Just enter a display name when you join a game, and you're ready to play.

Is my data private?

Yes! We collect minimal data and don't sell or share it with advertisers. Read our Privacy Policy for details.
